Great book about a great company

I thought this was full of great background information that gave a real sense of where Honda came from and illustrated why they create such incredible products. I admit to being a Honda fanboy, so I guess that could cloud my judgement, but I was thrilled with this book as it was candid and informative. I enjoy learning all about Soichiro Honda, as he's a hero to me. Love the man, his genius and his flaws. But I learned that Honda was so much more than one man through this read. A great book in my opinion.

What's a tattoo book without pictures?!

I was really excited to read this book, and the stories are pretty neat, but I was completely bummed that there's not one single picture of a tattoo included! At the end of every story, I wanted to see how that chick's tat turned out...and had nothing to look at. Neat concept, but really lacking.

EYE OPENING WITH AN OPEN MIND

I have to admit-this was more interesting than I thought it would be. You see, being a mother we have and WANT to be included in the realm of our children's interests no matter how far off the wall they may seem (as long as it's legal of course) I do not have any tattoos and although I'm old enough to know NEVER SAY NEVER I don't have any plans on getting one. I read 1-2 stories a day in-between my busy schedule and now I find myself talking with the young girls I work with about THEIR's and they all DO have a story and meaning behind what they chose to have inked on them permanently. I never would have thought of that BEFORE reading the book. Realizing this opens a door for conversation with someone that maybe would not have been there before. I do recommend reading it-yes I would have liked to see some pictures too, but maybe the publishers will oblige with the NEXT book by this editor, my daughter.

Finally a Book That Tells Our Story

This book is a wonderful collection of stories from real, everyday women who have ink and are not freaks for it. It gives voice to those who proudly carry ink, even if we sometimes have to cover it to maintain propriety in an office setting. It even helps those who are not inked and have preconceived notions about inked women understand where we are comming from.
I have been inked for several years, to the great distress and/or confusion of family and friends. I was the only one in my family to have ink until two months ago, and very few friends of mine have any. I have actually given this book as a gift to family to help them see that it isn't so radical after all.
I have always been interested in tattoos in an anthropological way as well, and this book gives great insight into the "why" so many different women get inked, and why they have no shame in their art. It shows how very false the taboos surrounding women and tattoos are.

About the Author
Colin Renfrew is Disney Professor Emeritus of Archaeology and former Director of the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research at the University of Cambridge. He is the author and editor of many books, including Before Civilization, Archaeology and Language, and Prehistory and coeditor (with Paul Bahn) of The Cambridge World Prehistory. He is a fellow of the British Academy and a life peer in the House of Lords.

Paul Bahn is co-author of Thames & Hudson's hugely influential and bestselling textbook Archaeology: Theories, Methods and Practice, and has also published a variety of popular books, including Easter Island: Earth Island (with John Flenley), Mammoths: Giants of the Ice Age (with Adrian Lister), and Images of the Ice Age, widely regarded as the standard introduction to cave art.

About the Author
Barbara A. Brinson is an associate professor of Music Education at the State University of New York at Fredonia, where she directs the University Chorus, Women's Choir, and teaches choral conducting, choral methods, and foundations courses. Dr. Brinson served for 14 years on the music faculty of Southern Methodist University in Dallas and taught choral and general music in the Georgia public schools for 10 years at the elementary through high-school levels. She has directed choirs at all levels in both schools and churches. Brinson has served as director of the Intermediate Choir of the Chautauqua Children's Chorale; held the position of Repertoire and Standards Chairperson for Youth and Student Activities for New York American Choral Directors Association (NYACDA); and served on the editorial staff of the Journal of Research in Music Teacher Education. She has written articles for publications such as the Choral Journal, Music Educators Journal, and General Music Today. A frequent clinician at conventions, conferences, and schools, she also is very active as a guest conductor and as an adjudicator at choral festivals. Her professional affiliations include National Association for Music Education, ACDA, Sigma Alpha Iota, Pi Kappa Lambda and NYSSMA. Dr. Brinson received her Ph.D. in Music Education from Florida State University, an M.M. in Choral Conducting from the University of Tennessee, an M.Ed. in Music Education from Columbus State University, and a B.M. in Music Education from Wesleyan College.

Complete textbook

This textbook offers complete and pertinent information for any student or teacher looking to develop a successful school choral program. I am not only impressed with Prof. Brinson's organizational skills, but also with her priorities as a teacher, director, and musician.

Expensive but worth every penny

This book is filled with quality hints and tips on how to organize a choral program at school! For the beginning teacher, it is an essential guide to help them understand what is needed to be a successful choral teacher and run a successful program at school, or as an extracurricular activity. Adversely, I find the book focuses on after-school choirs too much, but if this is what you need information on, you have a great book. The book has some very interesting suggestions on discipline within the choral group. There are also excellent musical suggestions and an excellent section on how to present choral pieces to a variety of group levels from beginner to advanced.

This is a must....

This book is a must for ANY professional working in the finished-goods/products Fulfillment/Distribution world. If your work and responsibilities span anywhere within a FC/DC, you should pick up this book. For less than one hundred bucks, you get one of the best written, concise handbooks I have ever encountered.

It's very important to note that this is not just a dictionary-like handbook, but rather a book that is actually easily readble and enjoyable. It is not for novices, but for anyone with some level of experience, the book comes to life and will help you build depth.

I work for a major e-retailer that disbributes products to end customers. Having worked many years here and picking up most of the know-how from experience alone, I am now questioning why our learning dept doesn't have the insight to make this book a "required" manual for all when we first started. It is excellent and provides great explanations and applications .

Buy it. If I ran a DC/FC, this is a must read for all my mgrs and jr mgrs.

Great warehousing and material handling book

This is the best book I've ever found on material handling and warehouse storage. Though a little pricey, this book has content that makes it well worth the cost. Extensive detail on material handling and storage equipment. Also has separate chapters dedicated to small item warehouses, case-pick warehouses, and pallet warehouses.
Anyone designing a new warehouse or redesigning an existing one should read this book.
